This FS2002/FSDS 2 microlight aircraft is loosely based on the RANS 12XL, although I've taken liberty with the design, such that this project has become my own vision of what an aircraft meeting the specs for the proposed Sport Pilot license may be like. As with the RANS, this is a two place aircraft with a 90kt cruise, and approx. 300nm range. It has excellent short field abilities.

This is the second version of this model, and it now includes two additional repaints, plus some minor cosmetic changes.

Although there is no virtual panel, I have made the wings visible from the cockpit. Parts of the aircraft (the pilot and seats) were used with kind permission from Brian Gladden, an excellent aircraft designer in his own right. The tires and the prop were borrowed from the stock examples included with FSDS 2.

The panel design is my own, using stock gauges. I have kept the gauges to the bare minimum, as I wanted a panel with the max visibility possible. The panel bitmap was enhanced by Fabio Miguez from Leading Edge, who kindly offered his help to provide my panel a more authentic look.

The FDE I designed from the stock '172, although I have heavily modified it, especially paying attention to the way the aircraft taxis in crosswinds. I hope you find the aircraft a joy to fly.

The autopilot can be used with this aircraft. Click the avionics icon on the panel, and that will bring up the avionics stack.

I am distributing the aircraft as freeware, but it may not be uploaded to any site without my written permission. Under no circumstances is it to be sold in the form of a compilation, even "at cost".

Many thanks go to Abacus and their great creation, FSDS 2. I did not think that I could create something so quickly, that has brought me so much personal joy in the process of creating it. As an MSFS hobbyist, I have enjoyed many creations offered by the freeware community. This aircraft is my small thanks and first effort for our community, and I hope microlight flyers everywhere enjoy it as much as I do, and have as much fun flying it as I did in creating it.

As for repaints, if you find the aircraft worthwhile, go for it! If you wish to upload repaints, I request that textures only be uploaded, along with an appropriate entry for the aircraft.cfg to identify your repaint.

To install the aircraft, just unzip the folders and their contents into FS's aircraft folder. The aircraft will appear under the "Microlight" heading in the selection menu.

I have left all the above unchanged.
Just added a new sound file to enhance the simulation.
Hope you all enjoy the adaptation and have a good flight with this very stable forgiving ultralight.
